Chop Wood Carry Water Plant Seeds is a blog about Self-Sufficient Homesteading. How can we live by creating a sustainable bio-diverse world, instead of by consuming and destroying the only one we have? What kind of teaching have you got if you exclude nature?

Making Soap

1 lump of coconut fatt and sunflower seed oil ...
some olive oil ...
caustic soda (Dangerous, rubber glows and eye protection glasses) ...
mixing slowly caustic soda and water. The soda makes the water very hot, up to 100'C
warming up the oils and coco fatt to about 60'C ...
both mixtures must be of same temperature before mixing them together, around 35-55'C ...
once the temperature is the same in both dishes mix the caustic soda into the oil-fett mixture ...
Everyone is excited about whats gonna become out of this
mix it well ...
until tick enough ...
then poor into a dish where its gonna mature 24 hours ... This soap is still very alkaline and must be handled with care using plastic gloves. Tomorrow we will cut the soap in smaller pieces which will mature for 6 weeks before they are safe to be used on the skin.
It is important to keep the mixture warm until tomorrow
